Freshman Class Program
FRESHMAN PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS 2024-2026
The Freshman Program functions under the supervision of the Faculty of Education. Students in the Freshman Program are required to complete a minimum of 30 credits during the course of one academic year. The program includes subjects in the areas of Humanities, Math, Natural Science, and Social Science and Religion.
All students who wish to enroll in the Freshman Program, whether in the arts track or in the sci- ence track, must note the following requirements:
- Applicants are required to hold a high school certificate (Grade 12) from a recognized institution outside Lebanon based on twelve years of regular successive schooling.
- Applicants must obtain permission from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education allowing them to pursue higher education on the basis of a foreign program before registering for classes at MEU.
- Applicants must sit for and pass either the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Test. These tests are required prior to admission to the Freshman Program.
- Applicants coming from a school not accredited by a US regional accrediting association will also be required to pass a subject ACT test prior to or during the Freshman year.
Admissions to any degree program at MEU is based upon:
- Successful completion of the Freshman Program requirements, with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Student's academic background while considering specific requirements for each department or major.
- Obtaining MEHE equivalence for Lebanese Baccalaureate. Students must apply for and receive Baccalaureate equivalence from the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE). All requirements for the Freshman Program must be completed before students can advance to the sophomore level. The credits earned in the Freshman Program may not be used towards the requirements of any undergraduate degree program earned at the University.
